MERCEDES-BENZ ANNOUNCES NEW 9-SPEED AUTO GEARBOX

The gear wars don’t appear to have changed down. In fact they are doing quite the opposite, especially when it comes to the German carmakers. Why just the other day Porsche announced a 7-speed manual for the 911. Now Mercedes-Benz has introduced its new 9-speed automatic gearbox. Another world first we believe.

The new 9G-Tronic automatic features, yes, a total of 9 forward gears. It was announced that the new gearbox will replace the 7G-Tronicin the new facelift E-Class. Mercedes-Benz South Africa has not said anything about its plans for the 9G. Seeing as it’s being touted as the best car in the world, we think 9G will also appear somewhere in the S-Class that launches in Mzansi in October, as well as in other models as time goes by.
