AWESOME OPEL CORSA NURBURGRING EDITION FOR MZANSI

General Motors South Africa has released some interesting information regarding the brand new Opel Corsa OPC Nürburgring Edition, named after the famous old German racing track. The information coincides with the announcement that this special little pocket rocket is to be made available for sale in the Mzansi market fairly soon. What it makes it special though?

Well firstly it’s the most powerful production Opel Corsa every made. Keeping its normal 1.6-litre turbo Ecotec engine, the OPC Nürburgring Edition dials out more power than its rather “normal” version of 141kW. It improves on this to offer 154kW at 5 850rpm, with maximum torque of 250Nm available from 2 250rpm. There is an overboost function that allows the car to spit out up to 280Nmunder overtaking situations. The 6-speed manual gearbox allows the car to accelerate from 0 – 100km/h in just 6.8 seconds, top speed pegged at 230km/h. GM SA says over and above all this volcanic performance, the spitfireCorsa still returns only 7.6 litres per 100km in fuel consumption. A useful limited slip differential (LSD) is installed on the front axle to mainly counter torque steer and aide further performance.

How does one differentiate this special edition from the pedestrian one? Easy. This one sports a front lip spoiler, a rear roof spoiler, new dark 18-inch alloy wheels and double exhaust pipes. Inside there are new Recarosports seats covered in Nappa leather, automatic climate control, rain-sensing wipers, Bluetooth connectivity and a USB port.

GMSA promises more details and prices when the car is launched. We don’t know when exactly that will be though.
