Jaguar is a Star Car at Charterhouse

A post war Jaguar, which has travelled around the world, is one of the star cars in the Charterhouse auction of classic and vintage cars being held at Sherborne Castle on Sunday 20th July.

“The car was purchased in 1949 and immediately shipped over to Australia, where it stayed for many years. Having changed hands a few times, it was then shipped to Singapore and eventually repatriated to England.” Commented Matthew Whitney. “Rather amazingly, it has travelled further than I ever have!”

This Jaguar Mk IV is a real gentleman’s express. Fitted with a 3.5 litre 6 cylinder engine it has real road presence, especially with its huge chrome headlamps and grill. Finished in maroon, and with its original maroon leather interior, this matching numbers car is estimated at £32,000-36,000 when it goes under the Charterhouse hammer.

This specialist auction follows on from the Charterhouse June classic car auction, where an Australian client flew over and successfully bought a 1936 Alvis Silver Eagle for over £35,000. This Alvis was underbid by a German telephone bidder, showing once again the strength of the classic car market and the importance in using the internet to generate buyers. Overall, this auction totalled just under £190,000.

Charterhouse is now accepting further entries into this important classic car auction at Sherborne Castle on Sunday 20th July.

Elf is a Riley Good Car

A 1968 Riley Elf, with just two owners on 32,000 miles from new is entered into the Charterhouse auction of classic and vintage cars being held at Sherborne Castle on Sunday 20th July.

“The Riley Elf was an upmarket version of the ever popular Mini, coming with luxurious items such as leather upholstery and a walnut veneered dash.” Commented Matthew Whitney. “With a total of only just under 31,000 Elf’s made, compared with 1,581,887 classic Mini’s they are a very rare sight today.”

The Riley Elf going under the Charterhouse hammer is finished an attractive colour combination of white over almond green, with a matching green leather interior. The car was first bought by a garage W T Wall in Warminster, Wiltshire, where it lived until 2004. It was then acquired by another garage proprietor, this time in Cornwall, where it has been for just over 10 years. With the garage owner now retired, and not using the little Elf much, he has decided it is time to let a third owner take custody of his rare little car.

Charterhouse is now accepting further entries into this July 20th auction at Sherborne Castle of classic & vintage cars and motorcycles, and for their July pictures, books and antiques auction.

Coolest Cars 2014
Select your car

These are the coolest cars in the world, as of 2014. Many new even cooler cars are in development, but we can only guess about those. So lets start by enjoying these beautiful, super fast, super hyper and super cool cars.

Mercedes Benz, BMW, Acura, Audi, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Eagle, Ferrari, Ford, General Motors, Global Electric Motorcars, GMC, Honda, Hummer, Hyundai, Infiniti, Isuzu, Jaguar, Jeep, Kia, Lamborghini, Land Rover, Lexus, Lincoln, Lotus, Mazda, Mercury, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Oldsmobile, Peugeot, Pontiac, Porsche, Regal, Saab, Saturn, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, Volkswagen, Volvo.

These cars will introduce changes to the technical regulations of 2014.
Modern production of highway capable plug-in electric cars, and advanced stage of development, tested in demonstration program packs. Conventional hybrid cars are not included.

The provisional schedule was announced in 2013. The size of the wheels will increase to 21".
Some of these are actually concept cars. Meaning future car releases, that the manufacturer let us see a little before they are finished testing.

There is a lot of pink cars that came out in 2014. Probably because of Paris Hilton's very popular pink Mercedes Benz. No pictures here, as we all have seen her enough. It's still interesting though, how such a trend arises. Why all of a sudden pink cars, just because a famous person has one. Does everyone secretly want one, and then get one as soon as they see other people get it? Or is peoples test changed by the fact that they see a person they like, have one? Or maybe it's something completely different. But some of the pink cars are really super cool! Way cool. Coolest Cars 2014.

Red cars too. Of cause, red has been popular for many years, but it sure still is. All sports cars come in black, white and red. Very classic colors indeed. Bus still very cool cars.

The train and engine significantly influences the characteristics of sports cars today. Super cool cars are often referred to as designs of a sports car or Luxury car. These two types of car can actually also be one and the same. The engine and wheels are usually big in sports cars or luxury cars. Examples would be Caterham 7, Mazda MX-5, and Chevrolet Corvette. Many cool cars have FMR design, and a center of mass of the engine by the front axle and the firewall. Super cool cars have great enhanced handling and weight distribution, luxury car designs sometimes have other enhancements, and usually focus more on the design than the functionality and technical specifications. The RMR design is commonly found in cool sports cars, where the engine is mounted by the chassis. This powers only the rear wheels, which gives a more fun way of driving. Especially in snowy areas of the world. High-performance coolest cars 2014 could be Ferrari or Lamborghini. Porsche is one of the few manufacturers of the coolest cars 2014, that still places the engine in the back, instead of the front.
The engine distributed weight across the wheels. In the famous Porsche 911, excellent traction and comfort is due to the mass behind the rear wheels. This makes Porsche one of the coolest cars of 2014.

Before the 1980s, only a few sports cars and luxury cars used four-wheel drive, so at that time the coolest cars where the 4x4 wheeler. Although they were not sports cars or anything, the Audi Quattro was seen as one of the coolest cars at that time. Fiat Barchetta and Toyota Celica GT-Four are today seen as some of the coolest cars, but also Lotus Super 7, Honda NSX, Lamborghini Aventador and Alpine A110.

But the absolute coolest car 2014 is the Pontiac Firebird V8 Trans-AM. It far beats all other makes in design and power. It's both luxury and sports car, and definitely super cool.
