Porsche will unveil the updated Panamera Dieselat the 2013 Frankfurt International Motor Show. The car is based on the current facelifted Panamera model. The Panamera Diesel accounts for just 15% of all Panamera sales, having sold about 8 500 units so far. Porsche believe the update will strengthen its case among previous naysayers.
At the heart of it is the 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine whose power output is now 224kW, up from 187kW, at 4000rpm. Torque output is also higher at a forceful 650Nmbetween 1750rpm and 2500rpm. The 8-speed Tiptronic Sgearbox has been given shorter ratios from 1 to 3, and coupled with the powerful engine, the car is now able to accelerate from 0 – 100km/h in just 6 seconds and has a top end of 259km/h. Fuel economy is said to be 6.4 litres per 100km, translating to a C02 emissions figure of 169 g/km.
Porsche South Africa will announce pricing closer to the time of availability but just as a guide, the outgoing model had a base price of R900 000.
