The Charterhouse auction of classic cars at The Royal Bath & West Showground, Shepton Mallet, totalled over £250,000, confirming their position as a leading firm of auctioneers specialising in classic and vintage cars.
“It was a great weekend. On the Saturday view day we head nearly 1,000 clients looking around, and on the sale day, there were over 200 buyers who turned up.” Commented Matthew Whitney. “This combined with live internet bidding resulted in some high prices for vehicles which sold not only to UK buyers, but also to Germany, Poland and to a member of the Kuwaiti Royal Family!”
Star cars sold by Charterhouse included a 1964 Jensen CV8 at £28,000 to a member of the Kuwaiti Royal Family, a Jaguar C Type replica £33,000, a Healey Silverstone evocation £26,300, a 1947 Armstrong Siddeley Lancaster £11,700 to a Devon museum, a 1934 Austin 7 £10,000, a 1968 Mini pick-up £8,200, a 1957 Triumph TR3 £15,000, a 1973 Triumph TR6, garaged stored since the early 1990’s £10,000 and a 1994 London black cab £1,500 which is now on its way to the owners holiday home in Barbados!
Charterhouse is now accepting entries for its next specialist auction of classic cars on Sunday 15th July. This will be held in the beautiful grounds of Sherborne Castle where last year they conducted a specialist classic car auction totalling over £380,000.
